Ordering Information

Read carefully and save time!  Please order from us only if you agree to all the conditions outlined below.

Hatching Season (2020):  Our 2020 hatching season--which is our last for shipping hatchlings--is scheduled to begin in early April and end about mid-May. Ducklings and goslings are shipped the day they hatch, which is primarily Tuesdays, and occasionally Wednesdays.

Sexing:  Except for sexed pairs as specified on the gosling price lists, ducklings and goslings are sold unsexed and in the sex ratio provided by nature.  Usually this means about half of each gender, although it can vary from week to week. Sorry, we do not sex out extra females.

Minimum Orders:  The fewest day-olds we ship are 4 goslings or 10 ducklings.  These minimums are required in order to allow the babies to maintain the correct temperature while traveling.  If you order both ducklings and goslings, they will be put in separate compartments of the shipping box to safeguard ducklings from being trampled by the larger goslings.   For hatchling orders that are picked up at the Preservation Center, there is a $5 pickup fee and the minimum is two hatchlings.  Both ducks and geese are such social animals that they do not thrive when raised alone.  Please note: if you are planning to pickup your ducklings/goslings, you need to be able to pick them up within 24 hours of being notified.

There is no minimum order for adult birds.

Ordering:  Orders are filled on a first come, first served basis.  If you want day-olds during a specific week, order them well in advance.  Only occasionally can last minute orders for hatchlings be filled.  Please give earliest and latest date you will accept delivery and second breed choices.  Please make your check or money order out to Holderread Waterfowl Farm and send to PO Box 492, Corvallis OR 97339.

In mid-March we begin contacting customers regarding the expected shipping date(s) for the orders received.  We also contact customers the day of shipment to confirm that the order has been shipped--so you know when to expect the call from the post office letting you know that your birds are ready for picking up.

Terms:  All orders received after December 31 must be accompanied by full remittance.  A 25% deposit will book orders received prior to January 1, with the balance due 21 days before the shipping date.  Payment can be made with check or money order.  Sorry, we do not accept payment by credit card.  If for any reason we are unable to fill your order, you will be refunded in full.  There is a $15 service charge on cancelled orders for hatchlings.  No refund on cancellations within 7 days of scheduled shipping date.  There is a $15.00 fee for returned checks.

Shipping:  Day-olds are mailed insured Priority Mail and delivered to your post office, normally 12 to 60 hours after they leave us.  (Due to postal regulations, hatchlings cannot be shipped via the postal service into Canada.  Our Canadian customers have their birds shipped to a stateside post office for pick up.  Let us know to which U.S. town you wish them mailed.  Payment must be made by money order or bank check in U.S. dollars.)

Insurance:  Ducklings and goslings ship very well and normally arrive in good condition.  However, because we have no control over the treatment they receive once they leave us, all shipments are insured for loss, damage, or shortage occurring en route.  Always open boxes and check the birds in the presence of the postal carrier.  if damage, shortage or death occurred during shipment, please contact us either by phone (541.929.5338) or email (duckgoosefarm@gmail.com).

Guarantee:  We guarantee the following:
    1) birds we sell are from our own stock,
    2) our flocks are annually blood-tested and inspected by the Oregon Department of
        Agriculture,
    3) day-olds are carefully graded and any found with physical defects or low vigor
        are removed,
    4) Top Show Quality hatchlings are out of our special exhibition matings.  (Keep in
mind that not every offspring out of even the best breeding stock will be show
specimens or suitable for breeding.  A good rule of thumb is to raise 2 to 3
young for every show bird desired.)

Due to factors beyond our control, aside from the above, our birds are sold without any other warranties whatsoever.  In no case will we be responsible for more than the day-old price.

Shipping Notification Service:  Include your phone number (or that of a neighbor or friend) to be put on the shipping box, so your post office can contact you when the birds arrive.  We will phone or e-mail you to confirm that your birds are on their way.

Pick-Up Orders:  Pre-ordered adults and hatchlings may be picked up by appointment.  (See Pick-Up Orders for more details.)  To safeguard the birds here at the Waterfowl Farm & Preservation Center from exposure to disease brought in by visitors, and in accordance with the National Poultry Improvement Plan and recommendations of the Oregon Department of Agriculture, areas where birds are kept are off limits to visitors.
